5 Reasons your website need’s a Video

web video imageIn 2005 Yotube was launched, and an era of web videos quickly took the online community by storm. Youtube delivered the opportunity to anyone with a computer and internet the ability to upload videos and even embed them onto websites. 10 Years later, Youtube is the dominate source for web video streaming around the world, and every day over 3 billion videos are watched through Youtube’s player. With the popularity of online video constantly increasing, website and business owners no longer feel that video is just an optional addition to their website but instead an absolute need. There are many purposes, and reasons for online videos, so I have listed my top 5 generic reasons that any website should have a video.

5: Social Media

Videos are a great way to increase and engage with your social media followers. Youtube itself acts as a social media platform if you plan on uploading multiple videos to your channel. Adding video posts to your Facebook, and Twitter pages can dramatically increase the engagement you receive from your audience.

4: Video > Text

Video creates a visual understanding of things that text just can’t compare with. Today’s online generation is looking to browse the internet quickly and efficiently. Why read a page of 500 word text when you can simply hit play and watch a 45 second video that explains everything. (Yes I could have produced a video blog for this post and saved you all some time. I promise it’s in the plans for future production). Visually displaying the message your are trying send to your clientele is proven to be extremely effective. This Bike carrier video I created for Cap-it is a great example of this. Sure from the text you what it does and some of the features but, the video displays the simplicity of the installation, the product in use, and the dynamics of the product.

3: Your competition is doing it

There is a good chance that either some or all your competition is using some source of video to further promote themselves online. Falling behind, or being the only one that isn’t utilizing video marketing can only act as a disadvantage. If your competition has yet to discover the power of video marketing, well I’d say take advantage and be the first asap!

2: SEO

The game of Search Engine Optimization is always changing, and acquiring that number 1 spot on Google is a prize and objective that every website owner strives to own. So why would a video have any effect on increasing your page rank? Well for starters, by uploading a video to Youtube you are essentially uploading a video to Google because they are interconnected. Google also loves when you link your website from other sources, and also the Google bots that scan your website give priority rankings to websites with video embed codes. Great example: (Upload a video to youtube, add your website link to the video description. Then embed that video to a page on your website). Google also delivers a higher page ranking to websites that have users remain on pages for longer periods of time. Embedding of a video is a simple way of achieving this.

1: Customer Conversion

If you own a website, most likely you benefit from users visiting your website especially if your a business. We all know not everyone who visits your website is going to become a customer. Your website is required to be the top salesmen of the company, and for that to be true you need to provide it with the right tools. According to, “marketingland.com,”  71% of professional marketers say,”Video Conversion Rates Outperform Other Marketing Content.” Why is this, well you just read them in my previous 4 reasons. Get your customer to your website and from there a video will provide them with trust and confidence.
